Seminars

The following messages were recorded at the Pastors’ Summit 2025 in Bloomington, Minnesota. These messages are supplemental to a core values discipleship training. The rest of the messages at the Pastors’ Summit 2025 can be found here.

"Welcome! What Do We Have in Common?"

Presented by Brent Knox (Hometown Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota) at the Pastors’ Summit 2025.

This is the welcoming message at the Summit and describes what we have in common: the Holy Spirit, Relationships, and Core Values.

"Bi-Vocational or Three Full Time Jobs?"

A panel discussion facilitated by Greg Standinger (Glen Arbor Community Church, Chicago, Illinois).

An open discussion sharing how each of us as bi-vocational pastors balance work, church, and life and to provide support and strength to others who share this path.  What are some things we have learned, what promises we hold to, what are the struggles, and what are the victories?  What about feelings toward those who are full time pastors, how do we deal with that?  This will look at the gambit of bi-vocational work as we share in brotherhood this walk together.

"Healthy Leaders Map"

Presented by David Ping (speaker, author) and Rick Beemer (pastor, licensed counselor, past board member of the C1Network).

This seminar develops a “map” on how to develop healthy leaders by charting a course through the resources of the C1 Network resources that equips leaders to manage the challenges of church leadership with integrity.

"Peter's Call to a Pastoral Ministry of Renunciation: An Exegesis of 1 Peter 5:1-5"

Presented by Andrew Roberts (Awaken Church, Jacksonville, Florida).

Peter's letter to the chosen diaspora of churches scattered abroad addresses elders among them concerning three problems in their midst.  A careful exegesis of these problems reveals both their pernicious legacy and the providential remedy given to all those who are called to shepherd.  Join us as we dive into some of the Greek text, discover these three problems and perhaps renounce some of the very things in our lives and ministry.

"Managing the Job of a Pastor"

By Rob Gerber Presented by Rob Gerber (Cedarcreek Community Church, Eau Claire, Wisconsin).

A pastor fills the roles of elder, shepherd, overseer and leader.  How do we manage all of that?  We'll look at three specific aspects of filling those roles: gifting, time Management, and plurality.  We will get practical on how we can do all that God asks of us as pastors.

"Front Stage Pastors, Back Stage Realities"

Presented by David Blum (Evergreen Community Church, Manassas, Virginia).

As pastors we present a ‘front stage’ to our congregation and our community.  But what does the ‘backstage’ of your church and your soul look like?  In this seminar we’ll explore six relationships every pastor NEEDS to keep the backstage healthy, vibrant, genuine, and more closely aligned with the ‘front stage’ that we present to others.  Join us as we describe these six relationships throughout our ministries and, hopefully, fine one or two that need some sharpening.  Inspired by the book “Survive or Thrive” by Jimmy Dodd, found of “Pastor Serve.”

"Closing Message: History, C1Network, Future Summits, GCLI Revision and Core Values Teams, and Possible Organizational Future"

Presented by Rob Gerber, Tony Pierson, and Brent Knox.
